31 March 2026 – Public Service Accountability Monitor (PSAM) notes with concern the escalating Middle East crisis involving Israel, the USA, and Iran, which threatens civilians, human rights, and global economies.

Oversight Needed

US elected representatives must hold President Donald Trump accountable for attacking Iran without congressional approval. These actions risk wider war, with severe impacts on civilians, economies, and displaced communities rights worldwide. The Independent Institute states: “Trump’s Iran War is Grounds for Impeachment, According to the Constitution”. Over 251 organizations have urged an end to this unconstitutional war, citing risks to millions.

Violations of International Law

Human Rights Watch warns that rhetoric from US, Israeli, and Iranian leaders flouts humanitarian law, showing disregard for civilian lives. World leaders must condemn violations and demand accountability.

Urgent Call for Diplomacy

Oxfam stresses restraint and a return to diplomacy to avert catastrophe. Action Aid adds: “Sustainable peace can only be secured through diplomacy, dialogue, and respect for human rights – not through military campaigns.”

PSAM calls on world leaders to back ceasefire efforts, ensure accountability for transgressions, and protect vulnerable communities.

PSAM (Public Service Accountability Monitor) is a research, training and advocacy institute promoting human rights, good governance and social accountability.
